Ela Curry Kitchen, the popular Indian eatery located in Donald Ross Village moved a few doors down to become Ela Curry and Cocktails in December. The handiwork of Chef Pushkar Marathi, who also owns and operates sister restaurant Stage located in Palm Beach Gardens, and his partner Ela translates to “cardamom” in Sanskrit.

The new space offers a much-expanded dining room featuring an indoor bar and lounge, and private dining space. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with an earthy color palette, reflective of the spices used in their dishes, with flashes of metallics seen in their dishware and flatware. A major addition to the atmosphere is the large outdoor courtyard with al fresco dining and the vibrant Peacock Tiki Bar. Featuring an expensive rum offering of over 50 global rums, mixologist Bootleg Greg is at the helm crafting inventive cocktails that are both delicious and experiential like the Perfecta Cuba Libre rum and coke.

Diners are treated to a menu that highlights the diversity of Indian cuisine and pays homage to Chef Pushkar’s family and heritage. The curries selection includes the popular Butter Chicken, alongside specialties like Kerala Beef Short Rib, and Local Fish Malvani. Ingredients are sourced from quality purveyors and locally as much as possible, including local farms and commercial fisherman. An array of cold and warm small plates like Pani Puri and Lamb Samosas are perfect for sharing along with a selection of breads like their Garlic Naan and chutneys and salads.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, like entering the home of a dear friend who is no stranger to hosting and welcoming guests to gather around the table. Ela is open for lunch and dinner daily and boasts a calendar of special events including spirits tastings, pairing dinners, and cooking classes. Weekly programming also includes happy hour, music, and daily specials.
